O'Bryant Acres

O'Bryant Acres started as most things do when you're a dad of little girls. They wanted it, so I made it. Originally their garden was three 12" pots with some tomatoes and green onions but that wasn't enough for my baby girls. Of course they were fine but I wanted more FOR them. I devised a plan to make them a real garden they could be excited about, one that they could get into and really enjoy. I've never been great at building stuff, my hands just don't fit real tools very well but I figured I could shovel dirt and move cinder blocks.

So just a week or two later, I was at the local hardware store, squatting the 'ol pickup with a 12-foot trailer full of cinder blocks, then across town at the dirt depot, overloading the truck again, with 2 1/2 yards of topsoil. Got all that put out and decided they needed a way to walk around and explore their little garden without having to worry about doggy bombs. So a couple days later back to the store, I go - chicken wire, posts, couple of fencing planks. Finally, before us is O'Bryant Acres - not much, but a little haven where they could be connected to nature...which they pretty quickly turned into little more than a sandbox. We've lovingly called every little gardening endeavor, no matter how big or small, no matter the location, O'Bryant Acres - and it's even the title of our family chat room. Maybe one day O'Bryant Acres will be more than just a digital dream or a small raised flower bed, regardless, O'Bryant Acres is home.

These days I've decided to try to keep track of some of the notes and ideas that come along with child rearing, trying to stay connected to nature, tinkering with tech, toiling away in my career and growing my faith; and this site is going to be the sounding board for all of that.
