Scooby and the Gang Investigate Ghost Chickens
For months we’ve been stuck scratching our heads and chasing chickens down a couple times a day, wondering how in the world they keep getting out of the pin. I’ve walked the perimeter no less than 25 times checking for evidence of chickens sliding under the chicken wire or holes I failed to patch after the goats tore the fencing up. I‘ve added wire across the bottom, pulled it tight and strapped it down. I’ve moved odd junk from the yard in front of apparent weak spots. I’ve double layered fencing…and that’s where it happened…my daughter saw a chicken just WALK out of the fence. Through TWO layers! That can’t be freaking possible.
So yesterday afternoon (several days ago…) I took a break from cutting the back yard after I saw a chicken walking near the fence from the area where my kid says she saw one master quantum tunneling. Just me, a drink, the chickens and quiet. Of course she was right, that’s where the chickens leak was happening. In disbelief I closely investigated the spot and saw it: the overlapping fencing concealed offset holes in the layers. They could simply walk through both and be outside the pin. Bruh.
Now a solid couple of weeks later and not a single chicken leak. You have got to be freaking kidding me. Ah well, have to look at the bright side, at least the leak has stopped, for now!
